Dear Friends‚
What a month March was for constituents of Senate District 38. My team and I have been working diligently and just in the past few weeks‚ I have participated in three major press conferences in Sacramento and San Diego. I was able to bring to light a few of the most important issues Californians are facing today including catalytic car converter theft‚ widespread homelessness and the fact that gas is way too high!
I am working every day to improve California and make the changes necessary to enhance the quality of life for citizens of our great state. Thank you for your continued support as I stand up to Sacramento politicians. Together, we can restore California to its golden state!
Brian W. Jones
Senator‚ District 38
Crime Prevention Activity
On March 18‚ to show the importance of my bill SB 919‚ I invited District Attorney Summer Stephan and Chief of Police for Chula Vista Roxana Kennedy to join me at an auto shop in Barrio Logan. The owner of Barrio Auto Service‚ Jorge Medina demonstrated‚ how fast and discreetly catalytic car converter thieves operate. Due to the precious metals inside‚ the demand for catalytic car converters is steadily increasing. This contributes to the lucrative underground business of converter theft‚ leaving car owners to pay thousands of dollars in unnecessary auto repair costs.

The SAFE ACT SB 841
Following the ongoing pattern of deceit by state agencies‚ the Department of State Hospitals continues to attempt to place Sexually Violent Predators into family oriented neighborhoods throughout the 38th District. This does is not only occurring in our District‚ but throughout California. To combat this‚ I have introduced the SB 841‚ The SAFE Act that will address the loopholes and flaws relating to Sexually Violent Predator Placements.

Standing up for consumers because #GasisTooDamnHigh!
Every day‚ gas prices are climbing higher and higher. The average price for a gallon of gas in San Diego County exceeds $5. The California State Legislature has the ability to suspend the gas tax which would lower the cost of fuel by at least a dollar. I am continuing to push for this to happen to give people throughout California an economic relief‚ because gas prices are too high!

Homelessness
San Diego has a dire need to combat homelessness and in order to aid in this‚ I have introduced 10 bills over the last few legislative sessions to help get homeless people off our streets and provide them more dignity. Recently‚ my bill SB 1006 passed in the Senate Public Safety committee‚ this connects homeless individuals to housing and services to move them off the street immediately.
