End of Session Recap - Fighting for Your Family, Your Wallet, and Your CommunityAs the 2026 legislative session officially adjourned on Tuesday, I am back home reflecting on an intense final stretch of late-night voting on hundreds of measures at the State Capitol. After working around the clock to fight for our community's priorities, I’m proud to share a recap of key votes many of you have written, called, or heard about. Below are a few key votes: Assembly Bill 1709Excessive screen time takes a heavy toll on youth mental health. That’s why I supported AB 1709 to restrict addictive social media features for kids under 16. Assembly Bill 2575I believe doctors should treat patients, not ChatGPT. That’s why I voted in favor of the “No A.I. Doctors” bill that preserves healthcare workers’ ability to follow their professional judgment by prohibiting employer retaliation when a worker overrides an A.I. diagnosis recommendation. Senate Bill 887To curb the growing presence of data centers in our region, I supported this bill that will prohibit data center developers from dodging state environmental impact review and public comment laws. Communities should have a say on what goes in their neighborhoods. Assembly Bill 2383To help keep our utility rates low in the event a data center does come to our region, I voted in favor of AB 2383 that directs the Public Utilities Commission to create a distinct rate classification for large energy use facilities so ratepayers don’t foot the bill. Assembly Bill 28In order to keep our local environment safe from hazard waste, I voted in support of this measure that will require operators of solid waste landfills to monitor landfill gas-emission temperatures, provide public health data to regulators and create corrective action plans. Senate Bill 1250I strongly opposed this bill that calls for diverting gas tax revenues used for fixing roads to instead
now build street crossings and habitat corridors for wildlife. This is an irresponsible use of
taxpayer dollars. | ||||||||||||||||
