A Busy Summer Serving the 74th - Two Counties, One Team, All Summer Long
Summer doesn't slow us down. It speeds us up! Over the past few months, our office has been on the ground in every corner of the 74th, from South Orange County to North San Diego County, showing up for the people we serve!
Celebrating Community
We kicked things off in Oceanside, joining the city's America's 250th celebration and the 30th annual Oceanside Independence Parade. Nothing beats seeing our community come together to celebrate the country we love!
Down in South Orange County, we joined Lunch at the Library at the San Juan Capistrano Library, a program that pairs free, healthy meals with reading and fun activities for local kids over the summer break. It's a simple idea that makes a real difference for families in our district.
Beyond the events, our team has been meeting with local stakeholders, city leaders, nonprofits and community members across both counties, listening to what matters most to you and bringing those priorities back to Sacramento.
Protecting Our Seniors
Fraud against seniors is a growing crisis, and we're not sitting on the sidelines! This summer, we hosted 2 Senior Scam Stopper Summits in both South Orange County and North San Diego County, bringing together law enforcement, prosecutors and industry experts to arm the 400+ seniors that attended with the tools to spot a scam before it costs them their savings!
Supporting Our Military and Working Families
In Orange County, we teamed up with the OC Diaper Bank for a Community Diaper Drive, delivering nearly 15,000 diapers to military families at Camp Pendleton and families across the county who are stretched thin by the cost of living. Diapers aren't covered by CalFresh or WIC, and for young parents already struggling with rising costs, that gap matters. We were proud to help close it!
Upcoming Event: Reading at the Park
This Monday, we're partnering with the Oceanside Public Library and Mayor Esther Sanchez for Reading in the Park at Joe Balderrama Park. Kids get a free book, story time, a pirate show, art activities and a scoop of Handel's ice cream, plus free lunch for kids 18 and under. It's a great example of the kind of free, family-first programming we love bringing to this district!
Whether it's Oceanside or Orange County, our office is committed to showing up, listening and delivering for every family in the 74th!
