Dear South County Neighbor:
This month, the legislature will consider thousands of bills that will directly impact business and families. As Californians continue to be overtaxed and overregulated, it is important that we support legislation that promotes economic competitiveness and job creation - not merely financing big government.
I have introduced legislation (AB 405, 1277, 911, 201) that helps provide tax relief for small business and taxpayers, protects emergency services for Saddleback Memorial Hospital in San Clemente, and local control legislation for cities and counties on sex offenders.
I am honored to serve our community in the Legislature, and if you have any questions or if I may be of assistance, please contact my office at (949) 347-7301 or website at http://ad73.asmrc.org and email me.

Since the inception of the program in June 2014, GO-Biz has allocated approximately $129 million to 178 companies that are projected to create over 24,100 jobs and make over $6 billion in investments. Honoring Our Heroes
Don Brown was born in Glendale California and grew up under the influence of the mid 1950’s television show, “Men of Annapolis”. In June 1961, Don entered the U.S. Naval Academy and upon graduation was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps. Don spent 20 years in the Marine Corps as a Naval Aviator. He flew 325 Vietnam Combat Missions in the F-4 Phantom and in Vietnam, he was a Forward Air Controller assigned to the Korean Marines in the Hoi An Valley, Vietnam for four months. 1968 was a tough Christmas when their Korean Battalion was attacked and he could not get air support when the President declared a Christmas bombing halt.
Subsequent assignments included attending Top Gun Fighter Weapons School and an Air Force Exchange tour as a pilot flying the F-106 Air Defense fighter airplane. After graduating from the Naval Test Pilot School, he became one of the original Experimental Test Pilots on the F-18. He spent the next three years at Naval Air Test Center in Patuxent River Maryland testing the original F-18A. In 1983 he took Command of Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 314(VMFA-314) just after the Squadron transitioned to the F-18 Hornet.
In 1985, Don retired from the Marine Corps as a Lieutenant Colonel and became an Experimental Test Pilot with McDonnell Douglas flying MD-80’s, DC-10’s and MD-11’s. Based on his F-18 “fly-by-wire” flight control experience, he was reassigned in 1990 to the C-17 Program and went through the C-17 Flight Test development at Edwards Air Force Base. He was promoted to Chief Pilot and then Director of Flight Operations for the C-17. After the merger with the Boeing Company he became the Director of Flight Operations for Boeing Airlift and Tanker Programs.
Don retired from the Boeing Company in 2008 and currently resides in San Clemente California with his wife of 45 years, Karen. Don and Karen have three children: Eric, also a Naval Academy graduate and Marine Lieutenant Colonel flying the Osprey, Tiffany, a Physician’s Assistant at UC San Diego in the Neuro Oncology Department and Elizabeth who is a school teacher in Moraga California. They have three grandchildren Caden, Cole and Travis.
Don is currently President of the Board of Directors for the local Boys and Girls Club. He is also the Vice Chairman of the City of San Clemente’s Planning Commission and a member and Chairman of San Clemente’s Coastal Committee.
