self employed unemployment

Millions of gig workers across California have been struggling to receive aid from unemployment agencies and state officials have created a website to focus on their concerns.

Beginning April 28th, California’s self-employed workforce will have access to a site dedicated to addressing their immediate business concerns and financial needs. The website will be used exclusively by Californians who are self-employed, small business owners, independent contractors,  those who have limited work history, and others not usually eligible for regular state UI benefits and will have information about how to receive unemployment payments, health benefits and retroactive assistance.

Hundreds of new workers are currently being trained to assist and will be readily available by phone from 8:00 am – 8:00 pm Monday through Friday.
