Californians already face the highest gas prices in the nation. On November 8, 2024, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) approved amendments to the Low-Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) regulations, which are estimated to increase gas prices by 65 cents per gallon in the near term, 85 cents by 2030, and $1.50 per gallon by 2035. A gas price hike of this magnitude will have a significant financial impact on families across the state.
I support Senate Bill 2, which will immediately repeal CARB’s recent amendments and return the LCFS program to its previous status before the November 8, 2024, vote.
