Assembly Bill 734, authored by Assemblymember Kevin McCarty, would ban tackle football for children under the age of 12. The Assembly Arts, Entertainment, Sports, and Tourism Committee passed this bill in a vote of 5-2 this week, as the bill has to pass the state Assembly by the end of January in order to have a chance of becoming a law in 2024.
