Preserve California is a package of legislative bills which insulates the state from dangerous rollbacks in federal environmental regulations and public health protections, shields public lands from exploitation, and protects whistleblowers and public scientific data.
SB 49: The California Environmental Defense Act (de León/Stern)
Ensures that no matter what the Trump Administration or Congress does, California won’t lose the protection of landmark federal environmental laws like the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts, the Safe Drinking Water Act, and the Endangered Species Act.
SB 50: The Public Lands Protection Act (Allen)
Will put the state in a strong position to protect federal public lands in California by ensuring that they remain in public hands managed for the benefit of all Californians and will be preserved for future generations.
SB 51: The Whistleblower and Public Data Protection Act (Jackson)
Protects government employees, including federal employees, from losing state licensure for reporting violations of law, and also protects scientific data held by state agencies from censorship or destruction.
